Longmorn 1990/2015 Small Batch (Cadenhead’s, 2015, 56,2%)
Naso: frutta gialla matura, banana, pera e mela. Una nota erbacea dolce, di erbe di campo zuccherine. Note calde di caffè in grani. Un qualcosa di minerale qui e lì. Molto fresco e splendidamente bourbon. C’è anche della vaniglia ma è ben poca cosa. Con acqua è ancora più fruttato, quasi più intenso.
Gusto: speziato il giusto, quindi pepe bianco e paprika, poi tanta frutta gialla, dal limone alla mela passando per pera e banana. C’è anche un pochino di legno umido e spezie del legno. Molto intenso e fragrante. Conclude il tutto la crema pasticcera al limone. Caldo, da avvicinare con cura. Con acqua scemano le spezie in favore del legno e della frutta. Rimane giusto una puntina di pepe nero sulla punta della lingua. Mela verde. Comunque rimane caldo e avvolgente.
Finale: legno secco, spezie del legno, pepe bianco, frutta gialla.
Commento: un bel Longmorn molto secco, non troppo legnoso, anzi quasi per nulla. Un altro buono small batch per Cadenhead’s, avanti così.

Longmorn 1992/2013 (Malts of Scotland, 2013, 54,2%) Cask 13014
Naso: note fruttate, di frutta rossa e gialla, banana, fragola, mela rossa e pera al forno. Un crema pasticcera ci avvolge dopo poco. Anche qui grani di caffè belli caldi. Vaniglia. Un naso che concede poco. Con acqua erbe di campo e poco altro.
Gusto: meno speziato del compagno, c’è sempre un po’ di pepe bianco. Si prosegue oltre con una bella frutta gialla cremosa, mela e pera, per concludere con grani di caffè e legno in bella evidenza. C’è anche della frutta rossa, qualcosa ai limiti con la ciliegia e la fragola. Cacao amaro e cioccolato fondente. Con acqua diventa più floreale e il cioccolato si zucchera un po’.
Finale: legno speziato, pepe nero, cacao amaro, frutta rossa e gialla.
Commento: un naso che dice ben poco a dirla tutta, niente di che, c’è da giocarci un po’ con l’acqua per ottenere una gradazione consona all’esame. Comunque godibile.

Longmorn 1990/2015 Small Batch (Cadenhead’s, 2015, 56,2%)
Nose: ripe yellow fruit, banana, pear and apple. A grassy note sweet, herbal sugary field. Subtle aroma of coffee beans. Something mineral here and there. Very fresh and beautifully bourbon. There is also vanilla but is slight. With water is even more fruity, almost more intense.
Mouth: Spicy, then white pepper and paprika, then so much yellow fruit, the lemon apple through pear and banana. There is also a little bit of damp wood and wood spices. Very intense and fragrant. He concludes with the lemon custard. Hot, to approach with care. With water diminish the spices in favor of wood and fruit. It remains just a pinch of black pepper on the tip of the tongue. Green apple. Still it remains warm and enveloping.
Finish: dry wood, wood spices, white pepper, yellow fruit.
Overall: a beautiful Longmorn very dry, not too woody, almost for nothing. Another good small batch to Cadenhead’s, bring it on.

Nose: fruity, red fruit and yellow, banana, strawberry, red apple and baked pear. A custard envelops us after a while. Here, too, the coffee beans beautiful warm. Vanilla. A nose that makes little. With water wild herbs and little else.
Mouth: less spicy than mate, there’s always a bit of white pepper. After crossing with a beautiful creamy yellow fruit, apple and pear, to conclude with coffee grain and wood prominently. There is also the red fruit, something to the limits with cherry and strawberry. Cocoa and dark chocolate. With water becomes more floral and chocolate sweetens a little.
Finish: spicy wood, black pepper, cocoa, red and yellow fruit.
Overall: a nose that says very little to be honest, it is to play around with the water to produce a consonant gradation examination. Still enjoyable.
