Naso: note quasi farmy, poi tanti funghi secchi, una leggera affumicatura e le tipiche spezie giapponesi, come constatato in altri malti. Un bel malto intenso e, nonostante i 55 gradi, molto fresco ed annusabile. Fa la sua comparsa il tabacco da sigaro ma rimane comunque dolce e zuccherino. Anche parecchia frutta, gialla e rossa: fragole, banane, more ed albicocche. Con acqua è maggiormente fruttato e meno torbato, anche se la torbatura è comunque minima.
Gusto: coerentemente con il naso abbiamo un malto prevalentemente fruttato. Ci colpiscono delle spezie sulla punta della lingua, pepe bianco e pepe nero, quasi paprika, poi un bel malto che prosegue su note di tabacco dolce e frutta, albicocca pesca mela gialla e qualcosa di rosso, stile fragole dolci. Ripetiamo, coerente con il naso ed anzi, forse migliore. Con acqua è più vanigliato e fruttato, ottimo comunque.
Finale: spezie, frutta gialla e rossa, tabacco, una leggera torbatura.
Commento: il classico ottimo malto giapponese con qualcosa da dire di serio e concreto. Un ricordo di un’ormai vecchissima degustazione giapponese dove, se non fosse stato per un Karuizawa, avrebbe vinto a mani basse…

Nose: notes almost farmy, then a lot of dried mushrooms, lightly smoked and spices typical Japanese, as found in other malts. A nice malt and intense, despite the 55 degrees, very fresh and clean. It makes its appearance tobacco cigar but remains sweet and sugary. Even a lot of fruits, yellow and red: strawberries, bananas, blackberries and apricots. With water it is more fruity and less peated, even if the peaty level is minimal.
Mouth: in line with the nose we have a predominantly fruity malt. Spices on the tongue, white pepper and black pepper, almost paprika, then a nice malt that goes on with notes of sweet tobacco and fruit, apricot peach yellow apple and something red, like sweet strawberries. Again, consistent with the nose and even, perhaps better. With water there is more vanilla and fruit, very good nonetheless.
Finish: spices, yellow and red, tobacco, a slight peat.
Overall: the classic Japanese malt with something to say serious and concrete. A remembrance of very old Japanese tasting where, had it not been for a Karuizawa, would win hands down …
