Naso: ci accoglie una torba intensa, di uovo sodo, è una torba tipicamente Ardbeg, già riscontrata ad esempio in Uigeadail vari. Quasi vegetale, c’è poco di marittimo, se non qualche punta di sale ogni tanto. Frutta gialla, qualcosa di limone e banana ma è ben poca cosa. Il marittimo aumenta con il tempo, già dopo poco aumenta il sale e la costa. Affumicatura intensa.
Gusto: imbocco speziato e salino, abbiamo subito tutte le carte in tavola. Una torba esuberante, poi ancora tante spezie, pepe nero e paprika piccante, indi un bel limone costiero e marittimo. Si scalda dopo poco, complice l’alta gradazione. Affumicato a dovere. Diverse spezie ci accompagnano al finale, tra cui pepe bianco e cannella. Con acqua è più dolce e giunge un cacao abbastanza inaspettato. Frutta gialla.
Finale: legno, liquirizia, limone, torba e terra. Cacao amaro.
Commento: abbiamo un malto che, nonostante la gradazione, è abbastanza gentile come isolano (se gentile può esserlo). Poche note fruttate, sta tutto nella torba ben misurata. Un esemplare da provare per valutare l’evoluzione dei malti di casa Ardbeg. Consigliato ai neofiti.

Nose: welcomes us a peat intense, hard-boiled egg, it’s a peat typically Ardbeg, already experienced such in various Uigeadail. Almost vegetal, there is maritime, if not some bit of salt sometimes. Yellow fruit, lemon and banana but this is slight. The maritime increases with time, already after a short increases the salt and the coast. Intense smoke.
Mouth: spicy and salty entrance, we have immediately all the cards on the table. A peat exuberant, then again many spices, black pepper and hot paprika, then a nice lemon coastal and maritime. It warms up after a while, thanks to the high alcohol content. Smoked properly. Different spices accompany us to the final, including white pepper and cinnamon. With water it’s sweeter and cocoa comes a quite unexpected. Yellow fruit.
Finish: wood, licorice, lemon, peat and earthy. Cocoa.
Overall: we have a malt that, despite the alcohol, is king enough to be from Islay. Few fruity notes, it’s all in the peat well measured. A specimen to be tested to evaluate the evolution of malts from Ardbeg. Recommended for beginners.
